"We are not here to feel better, but to get better at feeling" ~ Michael A. Brown.

Our work together is the work of building a trusting relationship as the foundation from which your mind, body, and nervous system feel safe.

This level of trust and safety must be cultivated from a place of genuine attunement, care, and curiosity. I am here to slow things down and create opportunities for you to access the unconscious mind and body, where the implicit and non-verbal states of being can be felt and integrated. To hold space for whatever arises within the space we are co-creating together, and lend my nervous system and heart-felt presence as an anchor and mirror for your own exploration. In this way, I will use my own nervous system as a reference point during our sessions, attuning to you, myself, and the space around us all as indicators for the effectiveness of our work together.

The work of Somatic Experiencing, Breathwork, and Somatic-based work is getting our minds out of the way so that the intelligence of our bodies can take the driver's seat, addressing the root of our repeating unintegrated wounds which often have their origins in early childhood ruptures which can only be accessed through these non-verbal approaches. And of course, through my additional training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Coaching, we will also utilize the executive functions of your cognitive mind to support the somatic work we are in service to.

I received my counselling training at Rhodes Wellness College, a 2-year professional counselling program. I am undergoing additional supervision and training to obtain my Registered Therapeutic Counsellor designation. In my previous life, I was a professional dancer with a full-time career performing onstage, touring, and teaching adult classes focused on movement and somatic embodiment.

In my journey through life, I have faced the harsh realities of poverty, relying on the Food Bank and finding shelter in camper vans, tents in the woods, and the homes of others for extended periods. Amidst these challenges, the generosity and love of my grandparents on my mother's side provided moments of respite and care. Throughout my youth, I grappled with a sense of displacement, moving frequently to new cities and schools, perpetually feeling like an outsider. Yet, this constant flux taught me invaluable skills of observation, empathy, and connection with diverse groups and communities. It was during high school that a significant shift occurred.

Through the drama department, I discovered my voice and a passion for dance and theatre. The creative expression allowed me to inhabit my body, transforming it from a place of fear to one of exploration and safety. This newfound self-awareness paved the way for me to create a supportive environment for others. High school marked the beginning of my journey towards finding purpose, passion, and a true sense of service. Now, as a counsellor, I am grateful for the opportunities and connections that lie ahead. It brings me profound fulfilment to meet my clients in their moments of trauma and life challenges, providing a space of empathy and support.
