"Neuroscience research shows that the only way we can change the way we feel is by becoming aware of our inner experience and learning to befriend what is going inside ourselves."
― Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

In our shared space of exploration, I prioritize the connection between emotions and the body. Imagine our sessions as a sanctuary. We will embark on a collaborative journey that is not just about identifying challenges; it's about navigating them together, weaving mindfulness practices and actionable steps together.

In sessions, I'm all about embracing humor, openness, and creativity. We'll find moments to laugh, make space for sharing real feelings, and explore creative ideas. It's not just about talking; it's about finding the fun, being real, and discovering new ways to make positive changes in your life. I use evidence-based approaches to healing that are designed to support you.

I began my schooling with a Bachelor of Public Health at the University of Waterloo. While there, I became passionate about working with people experiencing homelessness, addiction and mental illness. I also taught sex education to small groups of middle-school aged boys. After learning about sex education, I spent a summer in Managua, Nicaragua developing my own sex ed curriculum to teach to a 500-student high school, entirely in Spanish! During that stint of volunteering, I ignited a passion for working with the topic of sex. I knew I wanted to be involved in some way or other in healing and education work around sex, gender and relationships.

Upon graduating, I moved to Vancouver to work in the Downtown Eastside in outreach. I also got involved in positive masculinity advocacy through Next Gen Men, wherein I facilitated community groups to discuss reinventing masculinity in healthy ways.

I am currently in my Masters of Counselling Psychology at Adler University, and by September I will be a full-fledged Registered Clinical Counsellor!

  • Level 1 Gottman Couples Certificate (in progress)
  • Indigenous Canada (University of Alberta)
  • Nonviolent Communication Training
  • Sexual trauma
  • Relational trauma
  • Difficult family dynamics

I know firsthand what it is like to try to rewrite the scripted dynamics etched into our brains since childhood. Having grown up with family members who experience chronic mental illness, I grew up very fast.

Over many years at summer camp - a place of immense beauty that I still cherish, albeit in a complicated way - I was mercilessly bullied. My self-esteem took a hit that I am still unpacking to this day. I have learned how to find people who will support my growth and am forever grateful for the Chosen Family I surround myself with now.

Having spent the last 5+ years based in so-called Vancouver, I have dove into work and volunteering that nourishes my soul. I have always been driven to find ways to give back to the world, with the ethos to ‘always leave a place better than you found it’. When I am not working in various frontline mental health positions, I can also be seen volunteering in gender advocacy and teaching community members climbing skills.

In my recreational time, I can be found climbing or skiing. I also love embroidering and cozying up with a good book or a weird movie.
